It is never too early to contact us – simply call a member of the A E Davey and Sons Funeral Directors team on 01275 852307. Once you ask us to arrange a funeral, we will take complete responsibility for the organisation of every detail, ensuring you and your family are as free as possible of unnecessary worry and stress at this difficult time.
If death occurs at home
You should first call your GP, who will attend to confirm death. Alternatively, if a nurse or other qualified person is in attendance, please give your permission for the deceased to be moved to A E Davey and Sons’ premises. Our team will then guide you through the next steps.
If death occurs in a nursing or residential home
The nursing or residential home staff will normally contact your chosen funeral director on your behalf. Our team will then guide you through the next steps.
If death occurs in a hospital
The hospital’s medical staff will confirm death. Unfortunately, there is little that we can do during out of hospital hours. However, you are very welcome to call us at any time for advice, support or assistance. We will then guide you through the next steps.
If the coroner is involved
If death is unexpected or unnatural, the coroner will need to order a postmortem examination and may require an inquest, depending on the circumstances. Please do not worry. It is unusual for the funeral to be delayed. We will explain the procedures and processes to you in thorough detail, and guide you through the next steps.
